I have been very quiet lately and I’m ready to come back in full force. I do have a good excuse though – I GOT MARRIED! I wanted to be able to take the lead up time and time right after to just enjoy every crazy minute of it. Yes, it was full of stress and running around leading up to the day, but the actual day was incredible. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. I wanted to share a few highlights, vendors and photos with you.
To start, I need to give a shout out to our AMAZING day of coordinators, Tarina and Kelly, from Say Events Co. They made sure everything was under control, everything ran smoothly and we didn’t have to worry about a thing.
My maid of honour, Karleigh and I woke up in the CUTEST bed and breakfast called Princess & The Pea. I had booked the Sleeping Beauty room which was actually set away from the main house. It was great because us privacy and so much room to get ready in the morning.
Not long after we woke up, my two other bridesmaids, Bree and Jess, joined us and we started the day with mimosas and our matching Smash + Tess rompers. Rose Quartz Beauty came to do our hair and makeup. They arrived early to set up and did such an amazing job. Later in the morning, my mom and (then soon-to be) mother in law joined us to get their hair and makeup done as well.
I had bought my dress 2 years earlier at Champagne and Lace, completely by mistake. If you didn’t have a chance to read about it then, you can read it here. My dress was everything I didn’t want, but I fell in love with. Originally, I wanted lace and no beading. Instead, I got no lace and lots of beading. I also bought a cathedral length veil from JJ’s house that finished off my look.
After getting ready, my photographer for the day, Sherri M Photography, came to take some photos before we all hopped in the limo (run by Boss Limos) to head to Newlands Golf Course where our ceremony and reception were being held.
As soon as I saw my dad, everything felt so real and I started crying. Not so much because of nervous, but all the feeling of being overwhelmed and stressed finally just went away. We went down the aisle and I couldn’t look at anyone except for Chris. He looked so handsome in his custom Indochino suit. While the ceremony was a blur, I (apparently) laughed the entire way through it. We wrote our own vows and I am so happy we did. It added that personal touch and a bit of us to the ceremony.
Right after the ceremony, we all went to Sendall Gardens to take photos. Here we did our family photos as our couple and bridal party photos. We had some snacks and popped the champagne. No one ever tells you just how tiring wedding photos are.
After the photos, we went back to Newlands Golf Course for our reception where we did our grand entrance before dinner. The food at the venue was incredible! We ate as fast as we could so we could make it around to every table to say hello before the speeches took place.
We did the usual line up of speeches, bouquet toss, first dance, parents dances and then the party began. We had hired a photobooth with iDJ which was a huge hit with our guests.
Overall, the day flew by and I wish we could do it again and again. I wouldn’t have changed a single thing and really did have the time of my life.
