When in England, you must do as the English do. Chris and I found the cutest little tea room hidden away in the alleys in Manchester. We wanted to go for afternoon tea, and after a little bit of googling, I found a place called the Richmond Tea Rooms.
This tea room was hard to find if you weren’t looking for it. Hidden in a brick building up a small set of stairs, you’ll walk straight into a Disney Film. The mismatched china, the quirky decor and a great selection of cakes, was just like stepping into the Mad Hatters Tea Party.
Chris and I were seated quickly. The tables were quite close together, but it didn’t seem like you were intruding on the other guests’ conversations. We ordered tea for two. This came with English Breakfast tea, and an assortment of sandwiches, scones, and cakes.
The food came quickly, and we dove right in. It was delicious. The sandwiches were flavourful, the scones were fresh, and the cakes were all unique and rich. We had so much fun trying all the different foods and noticing all the decorative details around the restaurant.
If you ever find yourself in Manchester, looking for a truly English experience, I would highly recommend the Richmond Tea Rooms.
