My skin has always been something I’ve been really self-conscious of. Growing up, I was plagued with acne. It didn’t seem like anything would ever cure it. As I got older it started to clear, but not without my key skin care products. I have combination skin. It’s either too oily or too dry. It never seemed like I could find a happy balance. When you look through magazines, perfect skin is everywhere. Unfortunately, we can’t all look airbrushed 24/7, and makeup can only go so far. So here is my daily routine so maybe I can help you become confident in your skin, as I have grown to be.
The first thing I do in the morning is wash my face. There is no better wake up call (other than coffee, of course). I use Origins GinZing Refreshing Scrub Cleanser. As the name suggests, it is super refreshing, and you can feel it unclogging your pores as you use it. Instead of using just my hands, I like to use my facial brush. I feel like it works the cleanser into my skin more, clearing away dead skin and buildup from the night.
Once my face is dry, I use The Ordinary. Niacinamide and Zinc blemish formula. It comes in a small bottle with a dropper. I put one drop on my forehead and one on my chin before rubbing it in. This vitamin formula reduces the signs of blemishes.
Next is my moisturizer. I use Origins GinZing energy-boosting moisturizer. It is as refreshing as the face wash and has coffee in it to wake you up even more. I have quite dehydrated skin, so I find that this cream provides just enough moisture.
Lastly, I put on The Ordinary. High-Adherence Silicone Primer. This is great as a base to keep your makeup long lasting, or just to finish off your skin routine. I don’t normally wear makeup, so my routine usually ends here. This primer is great to make you feel put together.
The day can take a huge toll on your skin. Every night, religiously, I use Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash. Again, I use my facial brush. This face wash is creamer, which I find soothing before bed. It is made for combination skin types, so it doesn’t dry my skin out, or make it too oily in the night.
Next, I use The Ordinary. Salicylic Acid Solution. I use it all over my face to help get rid of breakouts and to help them stop forming. However, this is great if you have just one breakout you need to take care of right away. With the dropper, I put some on my chin and forehead before working it around my face. Once I am done with this, I add the same The Ordinary formula I use in the morning.
My last step is the Origins Make A Difference Plus rejuvenating moisturizer. This cream is more heavy duty than my morning cream. It’s great because it’s like putting on an overnight moisture mask to make sure my skin is fresh in the morning.
My routine does change depending on how my skin is acting, but these are my key steps. What are your go-to skin products that you would swear by?
