With 2017 now here, I’ve been hearing and reading about are people yelling the mantra, “new year, new me”. I think it’s great that people want to better themselves, but why chose the new year as your excuse?

Last year was a roller coaster. There were many ups I must admit, from a promotion at work, lots of traveling, growing closer with my friends and family. There were also many downs, including nearly losing my mom and siblings to a car accident, helping them recover, and ultimately dealing with a new challenge for myself, anxiety attacks.

While I am looking for this year to be a better one, it won’t be the reason I’m going to better myself. Every day, no matter what the year, holds its challenges, and I learned that it is how you face them that is key.

This year I am hoping to visit my favourite cities with my love, spend more time with my family, continue building my bonds with my friends and spend more time on me.

I’m not one for resolutions. I’ve found it’s not realistic to stick to a goal, and give up if you fail one day. I am going to continue to push to better myself and my life, no matter what may come my way. I look forward to sharing my year with you all!

While New Year’s resolutions may not be my thing, what resolutions have you made?
