Chris decided to treat me to a nice dinner out in Vancouver for my birthday. We made reservations at Chambar, a Belgian restaurant. We got ready after work and hopped on the skytrain towards downtown. I wanted to dress up, but not be too fancy, so I decided to wear my black and white tea length skirt from Love Culture and my black crop top tee from New Look. To finish off the look I added my Steve Madden heels.
We arrived at the restaurant and got right in with our reservations. The restaurant is a lot bigger on the inside than it looks. It was also quite busy inside for a Thursday night. When we were seated, we ordered wine and beer and took a look at the mouth-watering menu.
The menu had lots of options. Chris and I were both quite hungry so we ordered a charcuterie board to start. This arrived with 6 different types of meats, fresh sourdough bread with balsamic vinaigrette on top, with a pate topped with an apricot chutney and fresh apple. A meat board doesn’t sound too exciting, but it was to die for delicious. While this restaurant is known for their mussels, I would recommend the meat board.
For our meals I ordered the lamb tagine while Chris ordered the beef brochette. The lamb was fall off the bone tender. It was so yummy. The flavours paired with the lamb were quite middle eastern, but everything together was great.
Since it was my birthday, we HAD to order dessert. We ordered the chocolate mousse with mango ice cream. I have never had such an incredible dessert. They went over the top adding a ‘Happy Birthday’ chocolate and little puffs of mango cream and flowers all over the plate.
All in all, I was so impressed with dinner at Chambar. I look forward to going back and trying more of their expansive menu.
