Kat’s Birthday Dinner at Fable

The J-girls (as we call ourselves) are a tight-knit group of ladies who I went to university with. One of us, Kat, is living the life of a reporter, over in Port Alberni, on Vancouver Island. We try to get together at least once a month, however, it is harder for Kat to come over all the time. This month we all got to celebrate Kat’s birthday with her in Vancouver.

We all met at Fable, a restaurant on West 4th in Kits. It is a cute little restaurant that you could easily miss if you’re not looking. When we walked in it was quite busy and I was glad we had reservations.

We were seated, and ordered drinks right away, in true J-girls fashion. I ordered wine, a majority of the girls ordered cocktails that were like no other. The drinks, to start, were fantastic. While waiting for Laura and Cassidy to arrive, Sarah, Kat, Amy and I were eyeing up the specials board, but most importantly, the sourdough bread located on it.

When it was time to order, we jumped on the sourdough train right away, luckily getting the last two orders. For my main I ordered halibut, while the other girls ordered pasta, beef and duck. The food was super rich and decadent, leaving no room for me to order a dessert.

After we ate, Kat opened her presents. She got spoiled with Herschel goods, a handmade candle, and lots and lots of alcohol. She seemed more than pleased.

Some of the girls were craving something sweet, so after we finished up, we headed a few doors down to Rain or Shine, a cute little ice-cream shop. By the time we were done, we were all exhausted, however, it was so nice to all be together to celebrate Kat’s birthday.
