I have been bugging Chris to take me for afternoon tea in Southport for forever! Finally, he took me.
We went to Westminster Tea Rooms. As you walked in, it was as though you had stepped back in time. The staff were dressed in period pieces and the music was as though you were back in the ’40s.
We chose a table and ordered a proper afternoon tea for two. First came the traditional English tea. It was unlimited so we had two pots. Then came our sandwiches, cakes and scone. We hadn’t realized we would both get our own towers of food.
The sandwiches we received were a club, smoked salmon, avocado and prawn, and roast beef. The sandwiches were delicious.
Next were the cakes, there were so many different varieties. Lemon, fruit and chocolate.
Lastly was the scone. We had the choice between fruit or plain. I ordered the plain scone, to have with butter and jam.
By the end of our meal, I was stuffed. However, so happy that we finally went for afternoon tea. I definitely recommend afternoon tea to anyone.
