I am the first to admit that makeup is not my thing. Fashion I get – makeup, I’m trying. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate makeup, when it does work out for me. I am no makeup artist, but with my very first Ipsy Glam Bag arriving in the mail, I wanted to try my skills with it.
Here is my review of the October Ipsy bag.
First I started with the Hey Honey Come Clean mineral face scrub. As per directions, I put it all over my face and then added water. This turned the scrub (which feels like something you would put on in a spa) into a lotion. After massaging this in for one minute, I rinsed it off with cool water. My face felt incredible afterwards.
Second I put on my favourite, and daily, face primer, Step 1 by Make Up For Ever. I then put on my concealer by Sephora to hide some of my imperfections. To smooth it all over I used my Laura Mercier powder foundation, which I put on with my Sephora foundation brush.
Next step was trying out the Touch in Sol Browza eyebrow brush and pencil from my glam bag. I first brushed my eyebrows to find out where they needed to be filled the most. I then filled the thinner parts. I usually use a powder in my eyebrows, so I found that the pencil was harder to use.
To stay with my every day routine I used my Urban Decay Naked Basics palate to apply a subtle smokey eye.
I am quite pale so to give some colour to my face I use my MAC Bite of an Apple matte blush (from their Disney collection) and top my face off with Benefit Hoola bronzing powder. I use the bronzing powder on my T-zone, as well as my cheeks, on top on the blush. I only use a touch of each so that it doesn’t look noticeably fake.
To finish off my eyes, I switched from my usual Benefit BADgal mascara to try Hello Lashes mascara by IT Cosmetics. I loved this mascara because the brush had different angles to reach every eyelash. Another plus was the handle was spongy so if you have a tight grip, the lid won’t hurt your hand.
Lastly, I tried theBalm Meet Matt(e) Hughes liquid lipstick. I really liked the consistency of this lipstick. It wasn’t too runny but wasn’t too sticky either. It dried right away and felt weightless. The colour (committed) was great too!
If you’re a fan of make-up, or you’re just starting to play around with it. I highly recommend signing up for a monthly Ipsy Glam Bag.
While I had so much fun playing with new makeup, Benefit products are still my first choice. What is your favourite makeup brand?
