Manchester, England

Manchester is a mecca of all different cultures. Here you will find all different types of ethnicity that translates from people to different types of shows, street performers, markets, shopping and most importantly food.

Manchester houses nearly every type of food you can imagine. At least once a week I go into Manchester to meet my boyfriend after he finishes work. After making the hour trek into the city by train, we stay for a while and have dinner. I love trying new foods so we try go to different restaurants each time.

A favourite that you can find anywhere in the U.K. (and a few in Canada, as well) is Nando’s. Nando’s is a South-African restaurant serving many different types of flame grilled chicken. They are famous for their peri-peri seasoning which is found on the chicken and can be added to your chips. When you arrive here you are seated at a numbered table. You look through the menu and go up to the till to order and pay for what you have chosen. You can chose different meals, which includes different flavouring and heat levels, with many options for sides. My favourite is the lemon and herb burger, with pineapple and cheese, served with chips and coleslaw. Once you have ordered you can go chose different types of sauces to go with your meal. If you are looking for somewhere quick, but not fast food, this is the place to go.

Recently I have been craving foods from home, so when I went to meet my boyfriend in the city, we chose a restaurant that would serve typical North American food.

The Printworks in Manchester is an entertainment centre which holds restaurants, clubs and a cinema, among other things. I knew that if I wanted typical North American food, this would be the place to go.

Here we came across The Hard Rock Cafe Manchester. We ordered drinks and appetizers before our meals. I ordered  Malibu pina colada type of drink, to cool me down from the heat outside, which turned out to be heaven in a glass. For an appetizer we ordered medium hot wings, which were more like extra hot wings, but very good none the less. For a meal I ordered a chicken ceaser salad. It was so warm out that I didn’t want a warm meal, but I wanted something that would still fill me up. This salad did the job. The food here was phenomenal and reminded me of home. It was just what I needed.

Manchester is the place to go if you are looking for any type of entertainment, or any kind of food. This city houses beautiful architecture and is full of culture. It is a must see in the U.K.
